Radiant Heating and Cooling Systems

With the Airtite Radiant trade name, which has been manufactured for over 40 years, Steel Ceilings' Chilled Beams are ceiling-mounted induction units using minimal primary air providing optimal heating and cooling. All products can be provided with overlaid fiberglass insulation. By separating the linear radiant elements with a gap, chilled beams couple the radiant cooling effects of standard radiant panels with a high convective component. Chilled beams can be installed in a variety of applications including full or cloud ceiling areas. Special design options such as hinged modules, sprinklers, lighting openings, air intake, etc., are available.

Gas fired infra-red heaters are highly efficient producers of infra-red energy that can be used in numerous heating applications. Their greatest uses to date have been in the heating of industrial and commercial buildings, spot and area heating, commercial food broiling and cooking and in process heating ovens. Solaronics gas infra-red heaters, high and low intensity, convert a high rate of their input to infra-red output. Input energy not converted into infra-red is released as convected heat and water vapor. Unvented units, high or low intensity, return a total of 92% of input to the space they occupy. Vented units, only low intensity may be vented, return up to 90% of input to the space they occupy. The longer the unit, the higher the percentage.

For more than 40 years, Uponor has been the standard by which all other radiant heating and cooling systems are measured. The first to bring radiant heating to North America, Uponor (formerly Wirsbo), is the leader in hydronic radiant system design and application. A hydronic radiant system consists of warm or cool water flowing through flexible PEX tubing embedded in the floor or in radiant panels. Radiant systems use the structure and surfaces of an area to transfer energy. In radiant heating applications, the energy moves away from the heated surface towards the cooler area; for radiant cooling, the energy moves towards the cooled surface from the warmer area.
